So we’re not the only ones crazy about Jarandilla de la Vera: Alejandro Sanz likes it too. So much, in fact, that he recently announced “Sombra (Shade) by Alejandro Sanz”, his own line of marmalades and olive oils grown from the 300 fig , 600 olive and 800 chestnut trees on his very own land on the outskirts of Jarandilla.
Alejandro Sanz, one of the most popular Spanish singers of all time, purchased his Jarandilla ranch nearly 10 years ago which he’s steadily developed ever since. A year ago year he returned there to marry his wife Raquel, and soon after their new baby was baptized there. It’s a wonderful rural resting place surrounded by 80 acres of olive groves and mulberry bushes, just a short walk upstream from the Jaranda river.
Right now Alejandro is spending a quiet Holiday Season in Jarandilla with his family and friends.
With Sombra coming to fruition, this year Alejandro has something new to celebrate. It’s a very personal project that few people other than friends knew about, but not surprising coming from a man that affectionately calls his ranch “El Sueno de los Parrales”, or The Dream of the Vine Arbor.
Sombra products will be purely artisanal and ecological in nature. There are only four people working on a very limited production that so far includes only three marmalades and one olive oil. These will be available exclusively online via select websites chosen by Alejandro himself. In fact, Alejandro designed the brand logo based on a drawing by his 10-year old daughter Manuela, a motif with a little olive tree under the shade of a cloud.
We’ll be sure to provide updates about Sombra by Alejandro Sanz in the coming weeks as more of his products become available, stay tuned!
