El Tio Picho’s “Pichin Real” is a distinctive and unique liquor derived from bee honey with a base of cream and aged rum. It’s perhaps a little reminiscent of Bailey’s Bristol Cream, but with a lighter, sweeter and maybe a more tropical nature about it. Like all of Tio Picho’s products, it’s 100% natural.
In 2011, El Tio Picho’s “Pichin Real” unanimously won 1st Prize in the “Fused Drinks” category at the First National Beverage Fair held in Caceres, Spain. Before that, in 2008 Pichin Real was awarded the prize for “Most Original Beverage” from a field of 14 competing beverages at a national even in Madrid, the first time a regional beverage from the Extremadura province received national-level acclaim.
In the Las Hurdes region of Spain, where El Tio Picho is produced, Pichin Real has become quite a favorite and best seller among the Tio Picho product line. And if you visit the city of Las Mestas, where the company is based, there probably isn’t a single person that can’t tell you exactly where to find El Tio Picho himself.
In the coming months, The Spanish Red will be bringing Tio Picho products to the USA, including Pichin Real. Stay tuned!
