You rarely find wines from ungrafted 60- to 100-year-old vines sold for under $10, so get this one while you can. This has the round melon and pineapple flavors you look for in Verdejo, but with a fresh touch of herb, citrus, and mineral.
Medium lemon in color, the nose is an attractive melange of waxy notes, flowers, lemon, almonds and bubblegum. There’s a subtle mineral note too. The Ermita de Nieve is mouth filling, with a satiny texture that partially hides its peppery acidity. The flavors have modest intensity that reflect the aromas. The finish is clean and balanced but on the short side.
