The 2011 Rocas Garnacha offers vibrant aromas and flavors of dark cherry and blackberry. Well-integrated nuances of oak and round tannins underscore these decadent fruit flavors to create a rich, well-structured wine.
This one surprises right out of the bottle. It’s void of any initial aroma – a light-bodied, pleasant sipper. But a little breathing time opens up a whole new world for this wine. Then it develops into a hearty, medium-bodied experience. The nose comes to life, offering a bit of raspberry. Tannins become more pronounced, and black cherry notes come through, followed by a tiny burst of bitterness on the finish with almost a hint of dark chocolate.
This one can stand alone, but is also a very good food wine. Pairings: meat-sauce pasta, pork, cheese and grapes.
