The 2010 Valserrano is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo. Cold maceration and fermentation achieved at a controlled temperature preserves the fruity aromas of the grape as much as possible and obtains the best extraction of color. Aged for 18 months in American and French oak casks and stored for a few months in large vats to ensure good harmonization of the wine before bottling.
Beautifully soft, with gentle, aromas of plums, red berry fruits, strawberry and a very attractive juiciness, overlaid by some creamy oak and spices with a rich smooth finish.
91 Points – Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate:
The 2010 Valserrano Crianza’s nose is an explosion of red fruits (wild strawberries, raspberries) and flowers with just a hint of spice and balsamic notes that add complexity. It comes through as a highly quaffable, pleasurable wine that delivers high quality classical Rioja character at an incredible price. Drink 2014-2016.
