All of us at The Spanish Red have lived in many countries and visited even more. We love the unique lifestyles, customs and flavors we find everywhere we go. However for us (and we might be just a little biased 🙂 ), as great as our international adventures have always been, we always come back to Spain. For us at least, Spain seems to offer a wider variety of experiences.
Spain is just different.
Spaniards tend to be open and vigorous, amazingly full of life. Spain’s landscapes and climate are incredibly varied, from beautiful sunny beaches, to cool rolling hills, to snowy mountain peaks, to hot desert mesas. And the food – when talking about any culture, it’s almost mandatory to talk about the food!
Spain’s food has as much, if not more, variety than any we’ve experienced. You can go with tapas featuring a wild variety of shellfish concoctions, or jamon serrano ham and chorizo sausages, or paella (of course!), or caledero bean and meat stews like cocido from Madrid or fabada from Asturias.
And needless to say, it’s obligatory to accompany Spanish meals with a full bodied Spanish red, or a cold beer, or cider – a choice that varies depending on the season, region, or dish.
In the USA we automatically think of French or Italian when we think of amazing food.
Well, The Spanish Red is here to show you in no uncertain terms: when it comes to eating and drinking, the Spaniards know how it’s done. And we assure you, there’s a lot more over there than just great paella!
